At EDELHOLZ, we often emphasize that we use natural, plant-based surface treatment materials. Thanks to this approach, unlike parquet floors treated with synthetic varnishes or paints, our products (such as engineered flooring and herringbone parquet) do not release health-damaging hydrocarbon derivatives. This is why we confidently recommend them even for children’s rooms.

In addition to our internal quality assurance and monitoring processes, we regularly support our claims with laboratory testing. In November, we once again sent our engineered wood flooring products to the EPH laboratory in Dresden—a globally recognized, reliable, and independent institute. The testing lasted for 28 days, during which the product was kept in a sealed emission test chamber. At the end of the 28-day period, the air quality inside the chamber was analyzed and the emission levels of the product were determined.

In our case, it was confirmed that the amount of harmful substances released into the air from our products was practically zero. As a result, EDELHOLZ engineered straight planks, chevron and herringoben parquet, staircases, and related products comply with what is perhaps the strictest European standard: AgBB (a German regulatory system). Products that meet this standard are also suitable for use in LEED-certified buildings.

But our development work doesn’t stop here!
In our lab, we are continuously testing new oils and waxes, because we believe there is always room to further improve our products.
